Our paper "AlterEgo: A Dedicated Blockchain Node For Analytics" has been accepted at the 7th International Workshop on Edge Systems, Analytics and Networking (EdgeSys 2024)!
EdgeSys 2024 is co-located with EuroSys and will take place on April 22, 2024 in Athens, Greece.
The Problem
Blockchains today amass terabytes of transaction data that demand efficient and insightful real-time analytics for applications such as:
- Smart contract hack detection
- Price arbitrage on decentralized exchanges
- Trending token analysis
Conventional blockchain nodes are constrained by their RPC APIs, while specialized ETL-based analytics systems struggle with the trade-off between pre-calculated results and analytical expressiveness.
Our Solution: AlterEgo
We introduce AlterEgo, a blockchain node architected specifically for analytics. AlterEgo maintains parity with traditional nodes while integrating a robust analytics API, circumventing ETL rigidity and offering better trust models and performance.
Key Benefits
- Real-time analytics capabilities
- No ETL pipeline required
- Full node trust guarantees
- Flexible query expressiveness
